Aquaria KLCC’s "Sleep with Sharks" Adventure Is Back!

Aquaria KLCC’s favorite signature sleepover program is held together with Shark Awareness Day celebrations with Upin & Ipin!

Aquaria KLCC, Malaysia’s largest oceanarium celebrates Shark Awareness Day today, bringing back its popular educational ‘Sleep with Sharks’ adventure! Special guests from Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Permaisuri were treated to an early preview of a Sleep with Sharks adventure, as they arrived and immediately dived into the many activities and programs prepared for them, with the highlight being a surprise visit by well-loved characters Upin and Ipin, to celebrate Shark Awareness Day with them.

The event was graced by the presence of Puan Junaida binti Mohamad Jonet, Assistant Director of the Student Affairs Unit at the Education Department of Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, along with distinguished representatives from the Department of Fisheries Malaysia. Together with the Sleep with Shark participants and in honour of Shark Awareness Day, they watched an entertaining underwater skit at Aquaria KLCC’s Aquatheatre, featuring ‘Ocean Man’. The show was narrated by Upin and Ipin, providing an entertaining and informative commentary on man-made threats to sharks such as plastics and loss of habitat, and highlighting Ocean Man’s efforts to save sharks from these threats.

At the end of the skit, Aquaria KLCC’s very own Managing Director Dato’ Simon Foong surprised guests and participants when he appeared inside the Aquatheatre to perform an underwater ribbon-cutting ceremony, commemorating Shark Awareness Day and the relaunch of Aquaria KLCC’s Sleep with Sharks adventure.

After drying off, Dato’ Simon said “Aquaria KLCC is the perfect educational platform for kids to learn about sharks and the role they play in keeping our oceans healthy. Our Sleep with Sharks program is a great way to build awareness and respect in a fun, educational environment!”

The Sleep with Sharks adventure is an educational program for kids aged 5 years old and above, where participants stay overnight at Aquaria KLCC, and enjoy a full day and night of fun activities and unique experiences. Many of Aquaria KLCC’s inhabitants including its sharks are nocturnal, and participants can learn firsthand how their activity and behaviour changes. The Sleep with Sharks adventure program has the same objectives as Shark Awareness Day – to dispel the fear and misinformation surrounding sharks, raise awareness of the threats these awe-inspiring predators face, and their importance in maintaining a healthy ocean.

Embark on an unforgettable Sleep with Sharks adventure from today onwards, offering an incredible experience at an affordable price of only RM220. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity! To secure your spot or obtain further details, please contact us at education@aquariaklcc.com.
