1ST INAUGURAL BAZAAR MATTA WITH ATTRACTIVE SABAH TRAVEL DEALS AND ENTICING DISCOUNTS FROM MALAYSIA AIRLINES

The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) is pleased to announce its’ first inaugural Bazaar MATTA that will be held in Sunway Velocity Mall, Kuala Lumpur from 18 — 19 June 2022, showcasing our supporting partners of Tourism Malaysia, Sabah Tourism Board and Malaysia Airlines.

Bazaar MATTA is initiated as a mini travel fair to allow travel agents from focus destinations to promote and sell tourism products and holiday packages to our local consumers, primarily to Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley. For the beginning which we believe may provide a big impact to the tourism industry, we have worked with Sabah Tourism Board to bring in their selected travel agents. from Sabah to sell and promote directly to the consumer.

“Sabah Tourism is grateful for this opportunity to collaborate with MATTA once again, to promote Sabah. Even though international borders have reopened, the domestic market is still a key segment for our inbound travellers,” comments Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, Chairman of Sabah Tourism Board.

He adds, “I wish to encourage domestic travellers to explore Sabah through Community Based Tourism offering and go beyond the usual hotspots.”

Visitors are also entitled to a RM100 Boost voucher that can be utilized among several participating agents this weekend.

Sabah Tourism Board has been very proactive in attracting more local and international visitors to holiday in Sabah and has worked closely with MATTA Members in putting tour and travel packages promoting Sabah for sustainable and consistent domestic and inbound tourism growth.

Tourism Malaysia is enhancing domestic tourism by emphasising the Cuti-Cuti Malaysia campaign in 2022 to promote domestic tourism packages and programmes in trade fairs and roadshows via partnerships with tourism industry players. Besides that, various packages are also advertised on Tourism Malaysia's website under the 'Deals & Packages’ section.

As domestic tourism continues to drive the recovery, Malaysia is gearing up to welcome international travellers by targeting to attract 2 million tourists to Malaysia, with an expected contribution of RM8.6 billion this year.

Many consumers had kicked off their travel and holiday mood and perhaps could travel domestically and make Sabah their preferred destination that will involve flight arrangements. MATTA trusts such collaboration and support from Malaysia Aviation Group together with Firefly & MASWings to be a strong crowd puller to further boost and revive international and domestic tourism and contribute to the overall tourism growth.

“Malaysia Airlines is delighted to be appointed as the official airline for Bazaar MATTA,” expressed Lau Yin May, Group Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer of Malaysia Airlines, “We are glad to support yet another exciting travel fair by MATTA after having participated in the highly anticipated MATTA Fair in April 2022.
